Chang has been the subject of two customer complaints between 2018 and 2020, according to his CRD report:
- February 2020. “Alleges investments were not suitable and that there was an over concentration in risky products.” The customer is seeking $128,000 in damages and the case is currently pending. The complaint was regarding real estate securities and alternative investments and took place while Chang was registered with Independent Financial Group, LLC.
- October 2018. “Allege over-concentration of non-traded REITs that were not suitable and that resulted in losses.” The customer sought $50,000 in damages and the case was settled for $32,500. The complaint was regarding real estate securities and took place while Chang was registered with Independent Financial Group, LLC.
Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Independent Financial Group, LLC may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Chang’s customers.
