Whitaker has been the subject of two customer complaints between 2020 and 2021, according to his CRD report:
- March 2021. “Claimant alleges: breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and negligence.” The case is currently pending. The complaint was regarding alternative investments and real estate investment trusts (REITs).
- June 2020. “Claimants allege breach of contract, misrepresentation, negligence and breach of fiduciary duty.” The customer sought $90,000 in damages and the case was settled for $14,999. The complaint was regarding common and preferred stocks, REITS, and alternative investments.
Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Newbridge Securities Corporation may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Whitaker’s customers.
