Erez Law is investigating claims regarding Aon Douglas Miller (CRD #3083225, Chattanooga, Tennessee). Miller recently was names as a respondent in a FINRA complaint alleging that he participated in private securities transactions with various entities in which four of his member firm’s customers invested a total of $1,550,000. At no time were the entities in which Miller solicited customer investments approved by his member firm, Benjamin F. Edwards & Co., Inc., nor did Miller provide prior written notice or a complete description of the investment to his firm regarding any of the transactions, according to FINRA’s complaint. See FINRA Case #2012034393801. The alleged unapproved investments included: investment “units” in a real estate investment LLC, “CDP,” through which investors would pool their money to invest real estate projects; partnership units in “KBI,” a specialty chemical company; and promissory notes for a company, “CTL.”
Miller was registered with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC (January 2008 to July 2011), Benjamin F. Edwards & Co., Inc. (July 2011 to October 2012), and Purshe Kaplan Sterling Investments (November 2012 until April 2013). Miller also offered investments and financial planning through AM Investment Strategies, LLC. Pursuant to FINRA Rules, member firms are responsible for supervising a broker’s activities during the time the broker is registered with the firm. Therefore, Wells Fargo, Benjamin F. Edwards & Co., Inc., or Purshe Kaplan Sterling Investments may be liable for investment or other losses suffered by Miller’s customers.
